He earned his Ph.D. from Dept. of Economics, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, with an achievement of University Gold Medal (for the Best Ph.D. candidates/ thesis in the field of Economics/ Commerce/ Business Management). He has earned 6 degrees. He wrote 9 books. His recent Books are: Eritrean Economy: Problems and Prospects for Development; Financial Institutions in Eritrea published by the New African Press in December 2006. He has widely written in the areas of Economics of Education, Food Security particularly on Eritrea. He has published over 150 articles. His works are mainly published in many National and International Journals like: African Development Review, Eritrean Studies Review, African Symposium, International Journal of Education and Development, African and Asian Studies, Manpower Journal, Indian Journal of Social Development, Journal of Educational Planning and Administration, Global Child Journal etc., He also published in the Middle East Times, World Press Review, the African Executive, African Economic Analysis etc., His areas of interest in research are: Economics of Education and development Economics. Dr. Rena is a Board Member of the US based NGO-WOMEN. He has been serving as an Editorial Board Member for many Journals like: Global Child Journal; African Symposium; Indus Journal of Management and Social Sciences; Journal of Economic and Social Policy; etc. He has been a referee for Journals like: Scientific Journals International (Economics), International Journal of Education and Development, African Studies Review, and currently holding a position as Head of Economics, Department of Business Studies in PNG University of Technology, PAPUA NEW GUINEA.
