Analysis and Design of an Exponential Taper Slotted Antenna with Improved Gain by using Leaf Shaped Slots

Abstract


This paper proposes a low profile, novel Taper Slotted Antenna (TSA) with manifold slots of Leaf shaped slots in order to improve the gain of a traditional Vivaldi Antenna without altering the dimensions of the antenna. Leaf shaped slots are cut on the antenna to enhance the existing radiation so that gain gets improved. The antenna is printed on a FR4 epoxy substrate which is economical. This proposed antenna provides an impedance bandwidth of 5:1 i.e over the range of 3.6 GHz to 18 GHz and a pattern bandwidth of 3.4 GHz to 18 GHz. The proposed antenna covers UWB, X band and Ku band which can be applicable for Radar and Satellite applications.
