- Abstract
In the present work, we have considered the unsteady three-dimensional flow and heat transfer of a viscous
incompressible fluid over an infinite vertical flat porous plate in presence of viscous dissipative heat. The plate is
subjected to a periodic variation of suction velocity when the free stream velocity oscillates in time about a constant
mean. The flow becomes three-dimensional one due to the periodic suction velocity in transverse direction at the
surface. By series expansion method, analytical expressions for transient velocity, temperature profile, the skin-friction
and the rate of heat transfer have been obtained. It is observed that, an increase in Pr leads to fall in temperature and
phase angle tanɸ2 of the rate of heat transfer, where as the amplitude H rises near the plate. Also, increasing the
suction parameter caused reduction in the temperature distribution as well as amplitude of heat transfer. The present
study is basically relevant to the application in different engineering sciences.
